I've been using a program called Autostich for the past couple of years that allows you to stich a series of digital photos together. I had almost forgotten how cool it was until I used to to stich together some digital photos I took up in Tahoe this weekend. The way it works, is you take a series of overlapping digital photos, upload the images to a folder on your computer. Next you open the Autostich program, specify how large (in pixels) you would like the stiched image to be. Finally you point Autostich to a folder containing the images to be stiched. Autostich automatically processes the images, stiches them together, adjusts exposure, brightness, etc. The resulting panoramic images are awesome. For more information and to download a demo version of Autostich visit http://people.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html#autostitch. For more advanced stiching features, there are a few commercial apps based on the Autostich program. Links to these apps are listed on the Autostich website.
Here's a sample panoramic image I created from 7 digital pics using Autostich:
Happy stiching!
